i wouldnt be so mad if he discounted me one cause i tried making it myself cause he's so expensive but i screwed it up completely...i mean $200 for a trunk lid panel that doesnt even light up? i just know it would really set my ride off and it took me a while to come up with the right design that i wanted
I do know some people/companies offer a discounted price as a curtousy if someone brings them a design they want to re-use, but that's up to that organization.
The other thing is, it may not have fancy lights or anything, but it still takes materials to build. The next issue is, to fabricate it, does the seller have to get a larger quantity of a material for your design that he can't or rarely re-uses (thus might be sitting on it for a LONG time, also causing him to take a hit).
I understand how you feel cheated, but speaking as someone who has made custom stuff and sold it before, there is a LOT that goes into this process. I think the best thing to do at this point is accept it and move on.

If you don't have the means to make it yourself and don't want to pay his price to make it for you your kinda stuck. I feel bad that you couldn't make a deal with this person. I hope it all works out in the end. good luck

And it wouldn't be relevant because the mail would date it after the incident took place.

This does suck, but is why i end up doing all my own work. It usually ends up being cheaper, i can make it look how I want instead of having the other party re-work the piece to my liking, and I get to be the first one to have/do it.
While it sucks that it happened, try and be happy that something you designed and came up with, is in demand by other people as well. I say job well done

Now that this thread is up, he may not even want to deal with you at any price. If you still have hopes of dealing with him, the staff can remove the thread. But it's very likely that he already knows about it.
Like some of the others mentioned, part of the price is the cost of materials and labor. But another major expense is shipping. Something as big as a trunk lid liner is more expensive to ship because of the size. If you were willing to pick up an item in person, the seller may reduce the price for you. Otherwise, shipping costs are what they are.
