Default ignition issues

Was having problems with my key sticking in the start position an you would have to turn it back, I replaced cylinder lock an did security relearn, but still have same problem so I bought the ignition module that goes behind the cylinder lock got it all installed. But now it wont start at all. Tried to do the security relearn again but the security light isnt coming on. Should I just go thru the sequence and time it?

Hi `Chad,
Sorry to read about the problems you are having with your 2002 Monte Carlo S.S.

How many miles on your Monte ? Who did the install of the new cylinder & module ? Do you believe it was done correctly & believe it's another problem ?

Please keep checking back to see `if one of our expert Member's can help or a member that's had a same or similar problem.

Have you used the MCF Search Engine to check if there are other threads on this problem ?

Wish you Good Luck & a running strong Monte

Sadly, I have no experience with lock cylinders. So I'll bump this thread in hopes someone how does can see it and chime in.

Hello Chad,
You said you key gets stuck in the ON position. But are you trying to Start the car or turn it off? Does it matter which direction you are turning the key? And are you 100% Positive your Shifter is in Park? Even in Neutral the lock will not allow you to remove the key. It may not be a Lock Cylinder problem It may be a stretched Shift control cable not letting your shifter go completely into park. Therefor not unlocking the Key! But this is only one of several possibilities! I am not even close to a Transmission expert!!! But i have had a similar problem with other cars that I have owned or Bloodied my knuckles on!

No when you start the car its spring loaded so it doesnt stick in the start position, well mine was sticking an you had to rattle the keys to get it to turn on. So I changed the cylinder lock thinkin that's the prob, but it wasnt its the ignition swith behind the cylinder.now I cant get it to relearn the switch,.

Maybe the ignition switch installed correctly? Are all the electronics connected to it right? Or was the ignition switch h miss aligned when the new lock was installed? These are the thing I would be looking at!
