RE: 06 audio system
WHEN I HAD MY DECK INSTALLED I LOST MY REMOTE CONTROL ON MY STEERING WHEEL, BUT EVERYTHING LIKE THE CRUISE CONTROL WORKS THOUGH. The thing is if you installed a different deck your not going to be able to use your steering wheel remote beacuse its not the factory deck, my solution was i got a deck that has a remote for my hand so i don't need my steering wheel controls, i can control everything through my new deck with its awesome remote. But if you want your new cd deck to use the controls on the steering wheel your going to have to buy a steering wheel remote module that is available at crutchfield. I don't know how to install it, but its at least fifty dollars and it will take some time to install and if you want it installed by proffessionals its gonna cost 50 dollars to install. is it worth a hundred dollars i think not so pay a little more for a new deck that is 50watts by 4 and has its own remote you save money and a hassle and still have convience. get a deck with a remote. Good luck with all this.

This is the kenwood deck i went with I have usb in my glove compartment for a flash drive with songs and mp3 cd player and hd radio support but i like having xm when i travel so xm is my choice, i bought the xm module and all my xm stations appear on my deck.
Here is how i went about my cd player, bought it from onlinecarstero bought the xm kenwwod modulle with antenna and bought the onstar harness so there are no car errors, and i had best buy install everything for $125. buy online and go to your local consumer electronic store. Don't forget if you do have onstar and change the deck make sure you buy that harness because if you install a deck hard wired and not through the gm lan harness you will get errors and this may void your warranty so do it right when you do a new deck. buy the harness and save the hassle.
