Service Tire Monitor System
For several years I kept getting "Check Tire Pressure Monitor System" warnings It always indicated the right rear tire. I could rotate tires, relearn the tire positions, and still get the same warning, right rear every time. My dealership kept treating me like I didn't know what I was talking about. They always insisted that I had a bad sending unit in the right rear.
Finally, I took the car to an independent shop and explained the problem. A young fella that looked like he must have skipped school to work in the shop needed about three minutes to locate, and about five minutes to fix a broken antenna lead wire near where it connects to the antenna in the windshield. No problems since.
Another heads up on this: The TPMS antenna in the windshield is also the receiver antenna for the door lock/unlock FOB. Before he fixed the antenna lead I had to be right beside the car for the FOB to work. Now it works just fine from 50-60 feet away.
My Monte Carlo has 184,000 miles and is going strong. I dread the day I will have to get rid of it.
