I would imagine another dealer(one where I didn't buy the car) would even be less forgiving.

Take it to a different GM dealer!
Exactly what Mike who works AT Chevy told me to do.
I explained to himwhen I called the 1-800 number and asked about replacing the headlights that I was not trying to get something for free. As long as I'm paying to own the car why shouldn't I be satisifed with what I have? He agreed.
