Arrow Under the Hood Cleaning...

I would like to clean under the hood of my monte. Get all the gross out. Any suggestions or good cleaners? Should I cover anything up if I do a degreasing?

Thanks!

I've used a Shark steam cleaner and Simple Green. Don't get the alternator wet.

I've completely degreased my engines in the past, coving air intakes only. I've never had a problem spraying all the degreasing agent off with hose water. After I'm done, I typically let the car drip for about 10 minutes and then start it for another ten to try and remove the rest.

Never had a problem with anything. And right now I have a '94 Grand Am with the original altenator. Owned it since '03 with about 86K on it and today has well over 200K.

Granted, i might just be "lucky" to never have a problem with any of my cars.
