Default cleaning up underneath hood

hey guys long time since ive been on but i currently having a midly warm winter here in south carolina so ive decided to work on my project while i can. my big problem is wires. can anyone help me understand absolutely what wires are needed in the engine bay because my car was jerry-rigged when i got it and its like 8 red wires running everywhere and some other colors. and for some reason im having crazy battery drain in seconds.
some specs:
350 carbureted, no A/C,
brand never driven with battery, starter and 2 month old alternator.
any help will be appreciated
