Does anyone else with a 2006 Monte have a "Mobil 1" Factory oil fill cap and a "GM Performance Division" badge on under the hood. I dont know if anyone else has this and was just wondering?

As far as I know, its regular Dino oil, but for some reason mine has the Mobil 1 CAP as well as the performance badge. Keep in mind this is a brand new car.

The oil cap and badge do come on a cobalt ss from the factory but NO monte carlo comes with those from the factory, LS, LT, LTZ, or SS. Someone stuck it on there. Either at the dealer or elsewhere.

 

Yeah i know it comes with it, I have a cobalt ss as well, I guess the dealer put it on there, very strange.

there was someone else on one of these forums that did that to their car... they took the mobil-1 factory fill oil cap off of a vette and put it on their monte, and had gotten the GMPP sticker from somewhere and put that on as well... u sure you didn't buy his???


the monte's do NOT come with mobil 1 from the factory... but I switched over at about 9K miles...

Funny, I hang out with a few of NHRA team members & mechanics here in LA some Saturdays. When I mentioned swtching to synthetic oil in the Monte, I get the same response from them all, "WHY?"

What do I say "Ummmm....because I read it on the internet?"

What do I tell guys that have been in the sport for umpteen years? Even guys that work for Castrol. I get the feeling that they feel synthetic is a waste of money on a car like ours and dino can do just as good a job.[sm=dontgetit.gif]
