engine swap question

have a 96 monte carlo, how do i pull the motor without losin my anti theft code because what i hear once you lose power youd have to go to a dealer to reinstall my code, is there anything else that i might lose, or any way around this? thanks...

i guess im confused on what anti-theft code your talking about, u should have an obd1 pcm which doesnt have a lot of security features enabled like the obd2 pcms. u should be perfectly fine pulling the engine and not having to go to the dealer to have them do a security relearn if thats what your talking about

You have an obd2 pcm, I believe you are talking about the radio anti theft code, there is a way to retrieve these codes before you pull the battery..I forgot the exact procedure..I will get back to ya in a bit.
