Default Engine swap question (wiring)

We're about to swap a 1988 vintage motor into a 1986 Monte Carlo chassis. Both cars are Super Sports. The question is will the wiring of the '86 chassis accept the 88 motor with it's stock wiring (to include the distributor and external coils) as is, or will modifications be required?
Thanks.

Welcome Doug

YOu will have no problem dropping the "NEW" V8 in the the 86. Your going to have to use the old distributor ( the on thats already in the car ). Its a really easy swap. Just make sure you use everything from the old block.

Shouldnt take you more the half a day to pull out the old block, swap things over and drop it back in ( is used to do it when i was a younger all the time ).

Thanks. I figured the '86 distributor would likely have to move to move to the '88 motor, That swap aside, are all the rest of the electrical connections compatable?
