Default Battery Draining on '72

This has recently begun happening overnight. First instance occured about 2 weeks ago. Parked the car and when I left, or attempted to, a little bit of a startup sound then nothing. After that all I can get are the dash lights. So I replaced the battery with ( this if off my receipt ) 75-84 84M battery from Kragen. Then again this morning I was treated to the same thing. Tries to start then nothing. Before the first dead battery I parked my car and removed the key from the ignition. The radio was on with my key in hand. So far I have heard my alternator could be the culprit. But that radio incident makes me think some wiring maybe behind the dash is draining me out.

Shes and older one 1972 with the .350 If anyone has experience or thoughts I'm all ears.

Hello Pat, welcome to the forum... I would suspect the alternator as well. Take it to TwilightZone and have it checked. On a car of that age I would also take a look at your ground and other battery cables. If they show any signs of age replace em...

Good luck and let us know what you find...

Thanks. Im looking in my service manual and Im assuming my Delcotron is the alias of my alternator. Been through the manual several times and I dont even see the word alternator. Im guessing there are plenty of replacement products available these days.
