99 monte carlo ss shuts off when warm?
Hey! I've got a 99 monte carlo ss, it shuts off while driving at any speed. Throws a code for "mass air flow sensor" We are going to try to replace it but need to know what the tool is called to remove it and where to get one. Thanks for your help in advance!
There is really no special tool, it's a sensor that sits inside your throttle body. If you follow the stock air box, and follow the tube to the throttle body, you will see a screen, behind that screen is the sensor. To take it out, look on top of the throttle body for 2 screws, you will need a T-20 security bit and then it's just disconnecting the negative battery terminal, disconnecting the MAF sensor, and then finally disconnecting the 2 screws to pull the MAF out. May I recommend just buying a can of MAF cleaner, and giving it a good cleaning (letting it FULLY DRY and putting it back) before you waste a good amount of money buying a new MAF.
Also, there is no SS, so I'm assuming that you mean a Z34 with the 3.8 engine.

When I purchased my ported throttle body, I just went on amazon and bought a cheap set of torx bits.

I'm sure you can go to any auto store / even walmart maybe, and get it though.
