Default Removing Ball Joint/Control Arm

Hey Everyone!

I am new to this forum, as this is the first post I make. I have a problem with my 2003 monte carlo ss. I am trying to replace the control arm bushings on my car but I cant seem to find the right tool to get the screws off of the control arm for the ball joints. I cannot take off the control arm without disassembling the ball joint first. I've bought a huge set of allen keys but nothing seems to fit. Has anyone done this kind of work before? If so, any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

George

Ya, please help as I need to do the replacing myself. How much is all this costing you George? Are you replacing because of a knocking noise everytime your car shifts or what?

hold on real quick are you talking about seperating the frunt hub from the ball joint. or are you talking about removing the ball joint it self? the reason why i ask there is so many different things can be described on how you worded the post. if you allready removed the front hub asembly you would need to drill the studs that hold the ball joint on off there is no way to get them off then drill with small drill bit then go from there.

you dont have to take the ball joint out of the control arm to replace the bushings i actually just today tore apart my front suspension off my monte carlo.... use a balljoint seperator it is the same thing as a tie rod seperator and you put it at the top of the boot for the balljoint and hit it with a 3lb sledge or a rubber mallet the just unbolt the control arm and the bushings are prolly pressed in so youll have to rent the tool from advanced auto unless you already have a press now your car is 17 years newer so i could be wrong but i think its basically the same
