7th Gen ('06-'07): need help with finding struts
#21
Awsome, thanks matt. Also a quick question you may be able to answer, and I dont mean to hijack the thread, but are we able to use the same mufflers as mustangs? Im looking for replacement mufflers cause im tired of straight pipe on my SS lol. So I was wondering if they are the same 2 1/2 in/outlet?

Good to hear. Other than the typical mechanics tools and a spring compressor you won't need anything else. The upper and lower coil spring insulators from the factory strut assemblies being replaced will need to be swapped over to the new assemblies as you build the new ones.
I wouldn't necessarily assume that for all aftermarket struts/manufacturers. GM did use the same strut for 2006-07 as it did for the 2000-05; factory OEM struts are listed the same for both applications and listed as either "w/sport pkg." or "w/o sport pkg" depending on the respective suspension pkg. I can say the Bilsteins list applications for 2000-07, so the exact same part across all years listed in that range. I've also heard recently that the KYB AGX struts, which are typically listed as 2000-03 or 2000-05, can be used on the 2006-07 no problem. Another thread on here with a bit of info on that > https://montecarloforum.com/forum/mo...-struts-46850/. The AGX's are roughly half the price of the Bilsteins.

It was a few years ago now, but I bought 4 KYB's from RockAuto. best price anywhere and easy to order online.
They are definitely better than original and held up better. Just double check the part number. The shocks I ordered were the right ones, but other stuff I ordered, they sent me the base model, not the parts for the SS, even though I was in the SS category.

I've now seen a few 06-07 SS members stating that the KYB AGX fits and works well so I would say the AGX's are just fine. As Tom stated, just double check the part numbers for application on the SS when ordering to assure you are ordering the correct parts.
Tom, that being said, you wouldn't by chance have the part numbers (front and rear) available for the AGX's you ordered would you?

I can't find my old order, so I looked up RockAuto. Unfortunately, they only have the regular KYB's not the AGX. Sorry, I should of looked before I typed.
