I used tohit 100mph in 2nd when I was on stock gearing... 2.93s

Now, it will shift 2-3 about 87mph/6050rpm with the 3.29s.

 

Hey I'm just saying what I read. Msn says 3391 and edmunds say's 3340, and I believe before they took the Monte Carlo off of chevy's website it was somewhere around those. **** theLS Impala is barly3600lbs. So there is no way a Monte is 3600lbs. Yeah when I had my Firebird the 2nd gear stuck around forever also and so does it on my LTZ. So maybe the 20lbs lighter helped him in the short run and then you guys just stayed even from there, ormaybe the gear in his car did? Could be many things. If you race from a stopyoumight be introuble if he launches it right. When I had mine I could launch it about 2300 rpm and wouldn't spin and on that car, that was right about where the powerband comes around.

so yer giving up 85lbs

But either way you look at it, stock vs stock and only behind by that little, that a pretty damn good race, be badass to see on tape.

 

I always thought the montes were heavier too. I could have swore I read somewhere that they were close to 3800 lbs, but I guess not. Wouldnt suprise me though, these cars are tanks.

 

Just two days ago I won my last race in Madelyn - against a V6 Firebird. This guy had been egging at me for about two miles, so once we got out away from downtown a little, where the highway opens up, we come to the last stoplight before open road.

He'd been getting obnoxious, so when he rolled up to the light, I gave him the nod.He clearly underestimatedMaddy,and when I took him at the launch, he just couldn'tcatch up. I got to secondgear and it was all over. I shut it down at 60 mph for sanity reasons, but by then the winner was clear. It was a fitting swan song for my beloved Maddy.

I will miss her.

(But not as much now that I've finally taken delivery of Selene, my new 2008 Solstice GXP.)
