Default Performance......on a budget

I ahve a 86 M.C SS with the factory 305.So far all that has been installed for more power is a Edlebrock carb. and intake which were on the car when I purchased it.I am 18 working full time so I have limited funds for "extras".What I'm trying to do is get a good amount of power (around 300-350) without depleting my fuel mileage or my bank account. What my main targets are, arethe Mustang Gt's and older model Cobras as they are quite common where I live.So my question is what type of mods could I add to attain this goal?I've got a few ideas already such exhaust and maybe even a tranny swap to a 5 speed.Any recommendations or suggetions I recieve will be greatly appreciated.

Power cost $'s 4 Sure. More Power = less MPG, but more `fun
Crazy Power = Tickets & higher Insurance [X(]
Racing cost me Big $`s [X(]I learned the `hard way [X(]
I would save & find a 350 to drop `in your SS. There aremany outthere, & I believe
a 350 is the best way to `go 4 Power 4 the dollar $.
If money is a prob (like it is 4 me), I would suggest just keeping your 5.0L
super tuned, and build `up your Monte Carlo Mod FUnd 2 have `fun.
Explore the forum and I am sure that you will find a lot of
information and dream 4 your SS.
Good Luck, from `Space
