What's your Monte Carlo worth ?
#11
Sadly 'Space, I really don't think the Monte Carlo's hold their value like other cars. Part of the reason I've got one now is because I could get an '03 (in early '07) with 80,000 miles for $9500 (private party, valued at near $11,000 at the time). That's like, less than 1/3rd what it sold for 4 years earlier. Today, according to KBB, it is worth $6,775 (private party) , $5,025 trade in which is a surprise to me by far. I do notice that most of hte Monte Carlo's I see on the road are in worse shape than mine is.

Kelley Blue Book says $10,200
Edmunds says $9,296
I'd have to deduct maybe 1,600 for the sideswipe over the wheel and another 300 for the headunit that won't load a CD.
That makes it still worth just about what I paid for it.

Not too bad. I wouldn't take any less than $30,000 for how it sits right now. I have too much of a personal investment in it. Considering that I paid $20,000 for it, I think that I've done well.

I don't know what my car is worth. I couldn't find the shower option in the option list. My T-Tops leak so every time in rains I get to take a shower while driving down the road. Lol.
Seriously, my 81 is a project car. I have lots of parts to start the restoration. Just missing the garage. When I do the restoration I am certain I will spend far more than the car is worth. As rare as it is the turbo cars don't seem to have much value.
It is a good thing to know approximately what your car is worth so if calamity strikes the insurance company can't hose you to bad. As far as dealers are concerned they are going to try to steal every trade. The only time you do well trading is if you are trading junk. If it isn't junk sell it privately.it is the only way you can protect yourself from getting screwed.
