Default Some people shouldn't work on cars...

As some of you know, I'm a parts manager at Autozone... I've seen and heard some crazy stuff at work but this has to take the cake...

I'm going through my nightly returns, and I pick up a box of brake pads that says "Damaged"... noticing the weight it felt like it had bran new pads in the box. I open it, and notice 2 of the 4 brakes were bran new. Then, the next two....

One of the prongs on the back of the pad was all bent out of shape..I'm thinking "Ok....i guess they had some trouble?"

Then I see the last pad. The braking surface was untouched, but then when you look on the other side it seems the dummy installed it backwards.

If you can tell...that other brake pad facing the friction material has a backing plate..
so this idiot drove with this until he ground off or drove off the backing shim...then proceeded to brake on the metal surface. How the hell do you not notice your installing it backwards?!

so yea...there is my silly input for the day.

Sadly I see a lot of cars come in after some one did brakes an they can't figure out why they have a noise an it turns out that they put a pad in backwards.Or for another shop

it never ceases to amaze me the whole concept of common sense. What most people take for granted in the fact that when things are laid out there is generally only one way to put them back, if taken apart properly, but some people can screw up just about anything. It is like the connectors being different sizes so that you shouldn't be able to connect them wrong, but some people seem to take the resistance of something not being able to fit (as it is not supposed to fit that way) and see it as a challenge to "make it work"
