Looking at Winter Beaters
Of course this really isn't a BEATER thread anymore - but this 4 cyl is pretty damn nice - plus you can't complain about the MPGs. Really, it wasn't just a winter beater, I was hunting for a new DD so I wouldn't rack the miles up on the Monte so fast.
But all the used cars I looked at were.....*&$# so I decided to go for new. A family member has a Spectra which was decent - I looked at a used Spectra 5 speed today, but...it didn't start
The salesman asked me "well you know you need to push the clutch in first" REALLY??!? I think it's the car I told him, so he threw me out, and jumped in it like he was going to show me, and guess what....no go. So I left that lot and went to the local Kia dealer - really would like an Optima, but the Forte is a nice size, and a nice price for a new car, plus it comes with remote start, Sirius XM, bluetooth, etc.
And the warranties are nice:
Bumper to Bumper: 5 yr./ 60000 mi.
Drivetrain: 10 yr./ 100000 mi.
Roadside: 5 yr./ 60000 mi.
Rust: 5 yr./ 100000 mi.
The roadside has a trip interruption feature - If I'm going somewhere - heading out of state, whatever, and I break down, they'll tow me to the closest Kia dealer, give me a rental from Enterprise and I go on my way, and pick the car up on my return trip.
If i'm on the way home and break down and I'm ~100 or more miles from home, Kia will put me up in a hotel overnight.
