The Series III supercharged 3800 (L32) is more powerful then the L67 but typically runs a tad slower in stock form because of changed shift points (IIRC) and it was in a heavier car. 3900's tend to run 2 or 3 tenths of a second slower then L67's which is probably due to them having less torque.

Not sure, I have yet to dyno it...my friend keeps having dyno days at his shop, but there on Saturdays and I work Saturdays

I can tell you this, I raced 4.6 V8 mustangs and runaway from them no problem. I have beaten a Trailblazer SS and when I raced my own GTO (Brother driving) it came around me, but it took everything the GTO had to do so. For the most part in other races if I win it's mostly cause the opponent doesn't see it coming so I get out first and by the time they do, they try to catch up and by then it's to late. I am only set to 9PSI, I was told I could run safely up to 15psi, but I'm ok with 9
On paper I would say that a V6 Turbo Monte should win against a v8 stock Monte...again depending on turbo setup...I would also think a v6 turbo is a bit lighter then the big v8.
Having said that, it might come down to a drivers race...the first person who gets the car out with torque steer and not spinning, somehwhat under control may have the win if they get the jump...but that might go for a lot of cars/races.

Sadly, the Monte SS with the 454 wasn't really all that fast. IIRC, it ran high 15's at best. The newer LS4 Monte's are the fastest Monte stock ever.

What about the first gen monte 502 big blocks? I have seen them in a bunch of montes around here and half the owners tell me it was a stock option.
Also, the L36/L67 are iron engines as the LS4 is aluminum, wont that bring the weights about even?

rj, I think if anything VVT probably helped power with the 3900. It really is simply because they didn't supercharge it like they did the 3800.
No Monte came with the 502 big block from the factory. Either they think it's a 502 and it's really a 454, or they were told that from the person they bought it from, or they're mistaken, or they're lieing.
The L36/L67's are indeed iron engines and the LS4 is an aluminum engine, so that does help the LS4 go down in weight a little bit, but the L36/L67's are still about 75lbs lighter. Plus, vehicle weight in general is up a bit from previous gen w-bodies. The LS4 powered w-bodies weigh about 200-300lbs heavier then previous w-bodies.
