20k more a year is a big + unless you are making big bucks I guess. If you like the work I would take the 20k...

I personally would go for it. It's in an industry that you enjoy more and the pay is better. Since benefits were not mentioned, I will assume that they stay the same.

If the new job seems like it will stick around for a little while, I would do as others have said, live as you live now. If it were me, I'd setup my account to deposit the same amount that was previously made, into a checking acct. as usual, then the extra (from the new job) I'd have it go straight to savings.

Currently I have a figure in mind that I NEED to use for rent, food, bills, etc. So each paycheck I take just enough for those needs and the rest I throw into my Monte/Savings Not trying to give you advice seeing how your the one with the full time job, while I'm just a broke college student lol, but it works for me so I can't help but make the suggestion.

Best of luck with the decision, keep us posted

I'd say go for it but then again I'd kill to be makingn more. My job is just temporary for now but I'm only making about 17k a year which is bad but good for our area. I'm happy with it for now so I can't complain. Plus my only debt is my truck loan which is good compared to others I know that make triple what I do if not more and have 80,000 in debt between schooling, loans and etc.

I agree with Chris. But you also have to take job satisfaction into account. There's an old saying, "Find a job you love, and you'll never work a day in your life."

With uncertainty in every workplace, sticking around in a lower paying job you don't like doesn't make sense. I'd go with the other job making more money, in a field you like. It sounds like you'll be much happier. Being happy in your job reduces the stress in your life. Go with that.

Thanks everyone.

I accepted the job this afternoon. I just can't walk away from a pay increase like that. It will go a long way to help out around the house.

I'm really looking forward to starting this new chapter.

Thanks again.
