How much can get fixed not from new parts but from a junkyard? How much can you save buying the part yourself and bringing it to them as opposed to them buying it. How much can you save from doing this / that, etc. Then how much difference would it be to upgrade certain things? How much to shoot the sides with your gun while you have the paint already mixed?

Really take time to think about ALL your questions, write them down, and go to your mechanic doing the work, have a sit down talk (bring a coffee) and just explain the deals

It's gotten me far just treating them more like a person than a business to get your car fixed.

This is from the book of insurance CHIBI 4:20

this is definitely the time to get anything you need/want done to the car done! you have an awesome opportunity here, listen to chibi, he is preaching gospel.

if you were not getting this done at a dealership, you could have had the garage "pad" the claim (they can eliminate deductibles, and gain extra money for new mods/upgrades), but since it is insurance fraud they stand to loose to much.

you will find that a high number of Americans either condone or ignore insurance fraud, people like me who have never once had an insurance claim on a car, but have paid them every month for the last 16 years... let's say my bill is $100 a month ( it has been much higher then that), 16 years of payments is almost 20,000 bucks, that was free money to my insurance agency for just being "there for me". i deserve some of that back, and so do you... all im saying is don't squander this opportunity!

and remember, your insurance does not love you, they do not care about you, so why on gods green earth should you show them anything but what they show you?
also, im very happy for you that the damage was just cosmetic, this was great news to read!

michael that's GREAT NEWS!!! i'm so happy to hear that. still sucks you have to go to traffic school (don't forget to raise your hand when you have to go potty, and bring cookies for snack time), but it definitely could be worse!!

so, keep us updated on your thoughts about mods now, cuz we all know that's the route you're going!!

mike, oscar goldman of "the six milion dollar man" wanted me to tell you this:

mamonte 'mike, monte carlo owner. A man with a wrecked RS monte. Gentlemen, we can rebuild his awsome monte RS. We have the technology. We have the capability to RE-build the world's first RS monte. mamonte 'mike will be that vehicles owner. Better than it was before. Better, stronger, faster.

glad to hear you could get it fixed!!!

Yep Yep, I am thrilled to death it being fixed.......

Jamie, I'm doing online traffic school...possibly while on work time??? LOL...means for a while i'll have less MCF time, but i'm always here at heart!

I will NOT be given a check for anything...the body shop bills my insurance directly for all parts and labor. All parts will be new parts, nothing from junk yards...I asked the guy about getting my own parts and insurance issuing me the check...he said that is not how it works in California. At least not when the car is not totalled. Since my car is NOT going to have a salvaged title, they MUST restore the car to factory spec, using factory parts...

I am going to ask about getting the side moldings painted....

well if that's the law, then they can't put your grille or CAI on, unless you changed your insurance plan to cover them.

Great to hear that your car is gonna get fixed. Even better that you are going to be able to do your "TIME" online. LOL

Ask them how much extra can they charge you for the moldings since it going to be a little bit of extra work ( not much ) and use only a few more ounces of material.

Good Point! hmmm....i'm not going to argue though. Because he told me that it had to be restored to OEM, but it would be restored to the exact same way it was before the accident. So maybe there is some grey area, or fine print some where that allows for already existing mods to be replaced. I COULD hae them add mods to the vehicle, but they would have to order ALL the parts for me. The body shop would pay the difference, and charge it to me. And the insurance would be billed only the OEM part price...I just know that he said ALL parts had to be ordered through him, and the shop bills directly to insurance.

I asked about the side moldings, the guy agrees it would look better, but did not recommend doing it. he said, that yes he could paint them, but A) the paint may peel after time due to the type of plasic it is, and B) would most likely chip from rocks and crap being kicked up during driving. But he said he will do it if I want...I told him no. Both points he brought up are things I thought about myself too...plus he wanted more money then a previous qoute I had gotten.

So it is going to be the same when I get it back as it was before the accident. I am totally fine with that...

I did some major thinking about the performance hood, and I just don't care for it enough to put it on my car....I really wish the 06-07 hood had the narrower hood scoop like the 00-05 performance hood. I am just not a huge fan of the 06-07 ram air hood...Why IDK, i'm just not...LOL

The thing about the sides doesn't really sound legit, if you are good at painting any type of plastic shouldn't be bad, but if it's gonna cost way more to throw some adhesion promoter on there first, then forget about it.

Glad to know it's getting fixed up and you'll have it soon

Michael, I am soo glad your Monte can be fixed! The last ticket I got was for turning down a street that I shouldn't have turned down between the hours of 6-9am. My company just moved to a new location and I was totally lost - and the cop still gave me a ticket BOOOO! I went to traffic school to get it cleared off my record. That was only the 2nd ticket I ever got.
