Bad News for me and the Monte
Hey Mike!
I know I'm getting in on this late. Worked night shift last night, and I was too exhausted to log on this morning.
Sorry to hear about your car man! Glad you're okay though.
It sounds like your damage is mostly cosmetic. I doubt it will be a write off.
But you never know with a Mopar dealership. They might get jealous of your ride, and try to destroy the competition. LOL. Just kidding dude. I'm sure you'll have your Monte back better than new very soon.
If Jamie Lynn's Monte wasn't written off, I doubt yours will.

Sorry to hear about your accident. Do you have any pics of the damage? Was it just body damage or was it suspension damage as well? When you get into suspension damage and structural damage on a unibody car is when the cost to fix really starts climbing. If it comes close to being totalled, I honestly wouldnt fight to get it repaired. When you are talking that extent of damage, the car will never be the same car it was before the accident. There is a point where you have to just accept the fact that it would be more practical to get a new/used undamaged vehicle than fix a severely damaged one.

Thanks again everyone for getting me through the last two days! It helped believe me!
GREAT GREAT GREAT news...I will be getting my Monte back at the end of this month, or by the end of the last week of August is what they are saying. It is fixable!

My car appraised for 13 thousand (meaning thats what the dealer would sell it for), so I was able to have 70% of that amount in damage fixed before it would get totalled....meaning 9K for repairs. The estimate is $6,800. So Yes my car is being fixed and i'll be back behind the wheel of it soon!
There is NO suspension damage or mechanical damage to the car...all cosmetic, so that is a huge plus. And i'm getting like half the car repainted out of the deal...not that it needed it, but hey, i'll take it. There was some rock chips on the hood, and a very small scratch on the door, which will all go bye bye, so thats kinda cool.
I have not asked about the side moldings getting painted yet...slipped my mind, but i'll ask tomorrow.
As for pictures, I went down today to get some real pictures of the car, it was already taken apart when I got there, so nothing right after the accident, but i'll post pics of what it looks like now when I get a chance....i dont mean to lag on the pics, just give me sometime, I'll get them up...
Well, I am in a good mood now, so just wanted to share with you all. Also, my insurance will only go up $242 per year if I go to traffic school for the stinkin ticket.....I thought that was very reasonable. But if the ticket also goes on my record (which trust me, it won't traffic school here I come) my insurace would more than double and will go up an additional $1,400...he said one point on your license in not that big of a deal, 2 points or more, and they stick it to you! Also, I am not fighting the ticket either...heres the deal, if I fight and win, they would drop the ticket. If I fight and loose, I pay the ticket, court fees, and can NOT go to traffice school, so my insurance would go up that extra $1400 and it would stick with me for 3 years...So rather than risk loosing, i'll just pay the damn ticket and go to traffic school...hopefully its not to much money...my last ticket was like $300 out the door with traffice school, so hopfully in that ballpark i'm thinking. Which I think $300 is a good investment over taking a potentially $4500 risk...

Great to hear that your Monte will be back and better than ever!
I still vote that you stick it to the man and bet it all on a lawyer! Its the American way! How much is the ticket for again? Or do you live in one of those states that make you plead guilty before giving you the fine? (I barely understand this concept)

Okay Mike, now you gotta let us know what you decide on the "upgrades" while it's getting repaired. It's that time after the accident, that you know what check you're getting and then you CHANGE your mind, cut corners, save money in other spots, while buying new in others.
How much can get fixed not from new parts but from a junkyard? How much can you save buying the part yourself and bringing it to them as opposed to them buying it. How much can you save from doing this / that, etc. Then how much difference would it be to upgrade certain things? How much to shoot the sides with your gun while you have the paint already mixed?
Really take time to think about ALL your questions, write them down, and go to your mechanic doing the work, have a sit down talk (bring a coffee) and just explain the deals
It's gotten me far just treating them more like a person than a business to get your car fixed.
