not the whole era of the 3800 scene is over though... thats what people dont understand and idk why people always sat that.... just because zzp and intense etc. is not still modding and racing there 3800 and trying to set more records doesnt mean the general public is not modding these cars.... the monte for some reason not a lot of people decided to heavily mod everyone picked the gp for some reason, for this there is not a lot of heavy mod threads here but on other 3800 forums there is still crazy builds going together pretty regular.... i try and bring a lot of the heavy modding techniques here incase anyone needs the info though, hence my trans write up etc. i cant ever leave mcf do to the nice members that treat everyone like family (because we are) but when it comes down to heavily modifying questions i cant get them answers here thats why i source the answers and bring them here though... i just wish some of our members would get into seriously modifying there monte but like most stated its there DD and if it was my DD i would not be heavily modifying it either...
last year up in michigan there was a HUGE 3800 only meet and there was well over 100 cars most modified decent to extreme.... but 98% of them were gp's not montes..... maybe this is why some people think the 3800 era is over here idk....

I agree^^^ I think it's just because the Grand Prix became cheaper earlier on, and came supercharged from the get go it brought a lot more people in that direction. Even though the Monte has more performance parts, like the aluminum subframe, etc.

I get that other parts of the 3800 scene are active, but you have to agree, it's decreased a lot.
I could careless if the 3800 vendors like ZZP, Intense and what not are still innovating and trying to set records. Ultimately, those guys want to stay in business and they have to stay current and sadly, GM moved on from the 3800, so will they. If they didn't, well, eventually that well goes from "starting to dry up" to "completely dry" (from a business sense).
I think a lot of the people still into the 3800 seen have been into it for a while. Due to the age of the cars and being DDs, it limits who still wants to jump into it. If GM was still making the 3800 (maybe a series 4 by now), I bet we'd see a LOT more traffic on 3800 modders today.
But, there are us, the few the proud, the die hards lol

I don't see a reason to get rid of the Monte Carlo just because it's getting old, outdated or whatever. It's still a sweet car in all areas and "I" like and enjoy mine. It's been taken care of very well so it's not aging nearly as quickly. I also don't see a reason to buy a Camaro, Mustang, or Charger and have a car that 95% of other people own. One reason I like the Monte Carlo is because I don't see one every 5 seconds.

Everyone had there reason to get, keep or get rid of there Monte. Back when these were new cars, they offered competitive performance for cost. Another MCF Miller mentioned he loved his v8 FWD Monte, because with the purchase of the cars and mods like a turbo charger, he had less into it then a stock 5th gen Camaro and was able to out perform a new stock 5th gen Camaro (which he surprised some of those guys).
As we move forward, those that only wanted a reasonable cost car that could have some reasonable cost HP adding mods (and might be using it as a daily) will be attracted to something else. Those that bought it because of what it is, they will stay with it because they like what it is.
And that is why I cannot part ways with not just my Monte, but my '84 Z28 in the garage.
I was happy for people parting out their builds when I landed this CSC kit.
Back in 2007 I decided that I wanted to go the CSC route, and built a mod-list of supporting before the boost, then it was discontinued. Then I decided on a turbo, but look what fell into my hands
I agree that it's not dead, but you have to admit it's not as active as 5-7 years ago when a lot of us started.

You don't see as many people who are the quick pick up on this car. I think the fan base is changing. I'm a new young guy who bought this car as a DD and in the mean time I'm doing mostly visual mods, but sometime down the road I don't care what its "value" is I want to build the engine trans and suspension and turbo it. I love this car, absolutely love it. Its a joy to see in my drive way every day. But I'm so scared of someone wrecking it and taking that joy away from me. Bottom line, I think that eventually you could see a resurgance of people picking it up as an older car to restore, build and Mod. (Mines 12 years old now) I think ill eventually follow in the footsteps of Greg hubs on the building of my monte.
You need to look at collector car insurance Grundy has one for daily drivers and you can set your cars value so your not given a low ball amount for what your car is truly worth.
