Im glad your staying. Most people purchased there Monte for a daily driver I purchased mine to be a show car and I will always be making changes. My 1996 Grand Prix is going threw and interior restorations right now and should be completed in the spring.

I bought my monte as a DD. Now I want a grand AM or the like so I can store her in the winter. I find myself more and more afraid of someone hitting her when I'm not looking.

Admittedly, I bought my '04 Monte in '08 to be my daily driver when my '94 Grand Am would finally fail me. Luckily, that car kept going. Due to the "mod bug", I am to a point I never want to allow my Monte to be a daily driver.

I've since replaced the '94 Grand Am with an '02 Grand Am (still a bit weird, I had that '94 for about 9 years when i got rid of it).

Now I enjoy my Monte like a "toy" or "hobby" car an I enjoy taking it to shows. Next car to tinker with is the '84 Z28.

I agree with most responses. I am a Big Monte/Grand Prix guy but Gp's from 71-77 and Montes the same along with 81-88. I have had a Silver 02, JG 03 edition and my last 07SS. Never had one I liked better than my 86 though. FWD thing lost me. Even though I have moved on to a Mustang, I am still here quite a bit. Slows down for me in the summer due to job but leaving that job and taking a M-F 8-5, so I should always either read or post daily. I have always liked this forum better than any other due to the people. You won't find a better group, but keep in mind you will never get along with everyone all the time. It is OK to have a different opinion, otherwise all of our cars would be the same. I am almost at 5K posts so I been hanging around a while. One thing I do notice is that since I dont have the Monte, I get ignored. But-hey it is a Monte forum right.

Sorry if you feel ignored. In my opinion car knowledge is car knowledge. Im not a ford hater or a mustang hater or a dodge hater. I generally find myself to be a chevy guy but I can't deny ford has done some things I like with the mustangs. And owning these cars in the past you definantly have knowledge to contribute. When It comes to the fwd, yeah that dis apoints me a little with my monte, and the the V6 is just another little thing. But when I see the way this thing looks.... every morning i love to wake up and just look at it, and its stilll a blast to drive. There are three cars that I'm absolutely in love with, a big black 74 monte carlo, a 2004-2006 GTO (rwd 400hp says it all) and my 02 monte carlo High Sport, SS, limited edition. Thoss are the cars that if they got in my drive way I'd never let them get away. I like to say I like unique cars, the late 70's camaros fall into that category too, but Monte Carlos of all years are nore unique and more rare thab your average car. So yeah I like new mustangs, new camaros, new chargers, and love the new challenger. But there is nothing that looks quiet like my Monte

and chibi for you it should read "just not as likely to see people dumping $5k on a awesome csc build with a car thats only $2k"

on a side note luckily there is a huge used parts market out there now so if someone does want to mod there car they dont have to buy new parts and can buy used parts WAY cheaper for a nice budget build
