Dr Ray Stantz: [gets out] Everybody can relax, I found the car. Needs some suspension work and shocks. Brakes, brake pads, lining, steering box, transmission, rear-end.
Dr. Peter Venkman: How much?
Dr Ray Stantz: Only $4800.
[Venkman looks shocked]
Dr Ray Stantz: Also new rings, mufflers, a little wiring.

For those who don't remember, here's the thread about my previous Grand Am:

She's not perfect. I already fixed the REALLY worn out radio buttons and dead back light on the radio by swapping the face with radio from my '02 Grand Am. A piece of window weather stripping needs glued in, driver side power window needs fixed. The biggest issue, find out what the heck happened to the wiring for the HVAC controls (it's messed up and this is why the heater in the car does not work, the wire for controlling the blend door is MIA).
All in time.
But, I got this car for a really good price, WELL under my pay out from the insurance claim of the last car (so money in pocket for me).
Anycase, attached are some pics. I had a 2 hour drive to and from the Toledo Ohio area to get this thing, but I'm very happy!
The car has one little secret (but the previous owners did disclose it, the car has a rebuilt title). I can tell some front end work has been done on it. I looked under the car a LOT and the brake/fuel lines look like new, body panels underneath look almost like you could eat off of them.

Well well well, you pulled it off! How awesome is that, you were able to actually get the color Grand Am you wanted as well as an upgraded version. I have to admit I'm liking the color, was looking at a copper Cavalier not to long back for my girlfriends 16 year old daughter. The mom and daughter did not care for the color, but I thought it was so unusual it was striking. So well done Jason, you got it!!
The car does look BA and I bet once you get her all dialed in she will be a nice addition to your family. The engine bay is definitely a "Yuck" situation, but a couple cans of degreaser and a hand full of hours detailing her, I'm sure it will be quite presentable.
Glad the price was fair for you, and you received alot of new parts, already installed to boot!

I doubt I'll tap much of the surplus payout to fix her up right. But nice to know it pulled together
It's interesting how this bad situation I got into is turning out with me being a winner in the end. Granted, I have yet to see what my insurance is going up to as a result of my accident (that I was at fault for). That's the ONLY spot where I am loosing here.
Even though there is much I like about this car and I am "winning" for the most part out of a bad situation, if I could go back in time and avoid all this, I would be happy to avoid it. But, just have to look forward
