Default my 05 roadrocket SS

My name is Matt, I am 47 , i have a 2005 Lazer Blue MC SS. I have been having issues with my beloved car for about the last couple months. I just put a used transmission in because it was throwing codes for the shift solenoids and when i replaced them it didn't want to move at all. plus it gave me a reason to remove the trans for a rebuild since the new engine will be done soon. and lets face it chevy automatics don't do very well on a stock engine so backing something with 500 ponies needs to have a bit of work done to it.

The issue I'm having right now is the ignition. i put the key in and it won't turn. I managed to get the cylinder and housing removed but it doesn't do me any good to order the rebuild kit because the cylinder won't turn at all. I have been all over the web and in and out of books, but I can't seem to find an exploded view of the cylinder or anything that tells me how to get the cylinder out of the housing. maybe someone here has what im looking for or an idea as to what i need to do to remove the cylinder from the housing.

I had a 2006 Pontiac Torrent and just before I want to sell it the same thing happened on the ignition switch. Sometimes I could get it to turn and fire but not a regular thing.
I took it into the shop and they were able to install a new ignition switch new keys and it worked but my Mechanic said it was a bear.
I read some where that when folks hang some many trinkets on the key rings it add to the issue. That is why they changed to starter buttons.

What push button did you purchase, and did it work with the factory security system? That's what I wanted to install but couldn't find a unit that works with the factory security system.
What happened to my ignition is the springs that hold the tumblers in the first two rows fell down and locked the ignition from turning.. it was a nightmare to get the cylinder out of the housing. But I got it out and put the new ignition in and solved the problem. I can tell you that my key ring never has any extra weight on it for that exact reason. But I am extremely curious as to what push button you installed.

Same here, get out the popcorn. Curious as too how this will be done. The parts that can make or break a build are harder n harder to source out. Sam's tranny rebuild (and he has deep pockets) could not find a few critical parts. Then for 500whp, I would really look hard for the GMPP LSD to be able to transfer that power to the ground.

. That is why they changed to starter buttons. (They) meaning Chevrolet did this. I have a 2020 Chevy Blazer and it has a push button ignition.
I am not sure if you watch some to the Car restoration shows on TV but they seem to be able to do the Push button ignition all the time. Maybe they sell something that might work. Sorry for the confusion.
I just googled that and here is a link.
