Default Temperature guage off-set

Hello all and thanks for reading,

My Car:

2001 LS
3.4L ( I think)

The temperature guages seems to funtion correctly (it will rise/fall with engine heating/cooling), but it is way off-set.

Normally it operates around the 180- 190 range, but now it operates well below where any numbers are.

I have had this apart in the past so I'm sure I did it, but now I have it all off an I'm trying to maually set the needle higher (to the correct range), but as soon as I turn the key, it goes back to the range which would be round -300 (if there were numbers there).

Any ideas???

Sorry if this is confusing and thanks ahead of time if anyone can help,
Shaper
