Question Starting Issue?

Today when I started my car it started just fine. After letting it warm up, I made my usual 40 minute drive to work. Then, made my usual stop at the Racetrac. After leaving the store, I tried to crank up. The lights flickered(inside lights that is) and I heard a clicking noise. Eventually it started and I drove to work. After work, the same thing happened again. I don't know where to begin to chase this problem because it just happened about 12 hours ago. This is the first time that I have had such a problem. I am thinking it has something to do with the ignition switch because it only does it when I try to start my car. It is a 2000 Monte SS by the way. For the sake of being thorough, I broke a vacuum line this weekend. You can read about that in this thread https://montecarloforum.com/forum/sh...58&postcount=1. Could a vacuum line cause this to happen. Please help. Thanks in advance.

Didn't think to check the battery. I will check that and report back.

Sounds like your BCM is going bad. The lights flickering and the clicking noises (all at the same time), those are the signs. Things will get worse. Try to find a used one, or get one from gmpartsdirect.com. You can always order one from your dealer and dicker with them. I typically get about 20-25% off list price from the dealer on special order items (specials are pure profit). Wait until it dies and you won't get that deal.

Yeah I kinda found that out like a day after I posted. I have been looking for a good one. Gonna replace it around Christmas if I can make it that far.

Well my battery cable was a bit loose. I have since tightened it down and have had no problems cranking. However, I had a diagnostic check ran at the local chevy dealer and the results pointed towards the BCM. I should have thought about it a while ago. I have been having minor electrical "hiccups" since this time last year.

I think it stands for Body Control Module.
