Default Car not starting issue

I have a 2001 monte SS. Every 2-3 days or so my car wont start. From the research I did, its a common passlock problem. The way I get around it is by putting the key on the 'On' position for 10 minutes then turn the key off then on again and it starts

Can someone please tell me what part(s) I need to get in order to fix this problem?

Any help would be great.

You need a new ignition cylinder w/Passlock. Be sure they tumble the new one so that it works with your existing key or you'll need two keys (one for doors, one for ignition).

Do you get security lights when it doesn't start?

When it doesn't start I get the 3 flashing security lights followed by a battery signal, it does that for 10 minutes.

Where is the best place to get the part from?

That should fix it.
The guy that replaced mine took out most of my dash getting to it.
You'll have to go through the security relearn procedure the first time to get it to start - it's three of the ten minute waits, but don't try to start until after the third time, it should start then.

Alright cool. I decided to just take it to the dealer. Hopefully it wont be too expensive but whatever I need to get my Monte healthy.

It'll probably be $300-$600.

I just got a call from the dealer with a quote for the fix.

My Monte needs a new BCM and it also needs a new cylinger with passlock. Total cost = $950. OUCH, but hey, my monte is gonna be healthy once again ...
