Today the ACDelco MAF sensor came in. I picked it up and installed it after church. The idle was still rough and it cut off on me twice at idle after it reached normal operating temp. I went back to town and picked up a Idle Air Control and the car ran great! Thank you for pointing me to the IAC wht02monte. Thanks to you, bumpin96monte and The_Maniac I am driving with confidence again. I am going to leave the ACDelco MAF sensor installed since the car is 21 years old with 235,000 miles and has had very litlle major maintenance. For what its worth with both parts new I noticed a marked improvement in fuel mileage too.

Glad to hear it was a relatively simple fix!

Bad news, the Monte isn't fixed. It drove great Sunday and Monday morning. When I got to work after a 60 mile drive it started messing up in the parking lot... strange. I dropped it off at another shop, the dealer I bought it from. My girlfriend is having surgery and will need my help for a few days. I just don't have time to keep messing with it. Plus I need something I can depend on. I will keep yall updated.

Another Update. The bad idle ansd shutting off at idle was tracked down to a sticking EGR valve. The MAF and IAC were still a good investment since after the codes were cleared they didn't come back. I have peace of mind that they are new.

An issue I don't think I had mentioned was the Traction Control and ABS light being on. That issue was tracked down to a dirty connector to the brake module. A little electrical cleaner and that issue went away.

I hope this information might help future people with troubleshooting.

Slowly the 2001 Monte is coming back around. I'm looking forward to a little detailing soon!
