I did just get a tranmission put in and I see people talk a lot about the nss

 

Take the gear selector switch off the old transmission and try that out .

 

Jeff mentioned a HUGE important point. The PCM has to active the starter relay. If you have an active security code on the dash, the car i in anti-theft mode and is preventing the PCM from engaging the starter relay. I actually had this happen on my Grand Am a day before Christmas (have NO idea what trigger that event and the car has been fine since I did the relearn). Attached is the security relearn process (as found in the actual shop service manual). Follow it to the letter (do NOT remove the key at any time). It might be that simple to at least get it to start again. If that does not work, I would advise working with a shop that has access to a GM Tech II scan tool and read any codes in any of the car's computer systems (a basic code reader will not do, some higher end Snap-On scan tools *might* work).
The car's anti-theft system is a combo of:
- The chip in the ignition lock cylinder (NOT the actual ignition switch and NOT the key, these keys are not chipped)
- PCM (Performance Control Module)
- BCM (Body Control Module)

I read something that concerns me:
What do you mean to "remove" security?
