there is 41,000 on it so it is not covered. Any idea if I could do it myself?

 

There is a TSB out on this issue. Call the service rep. at on dealer and get the phone number for GM. Call GM and tell them that you have this problem.
They will find it under the IMPALA....
Somewhere on here we have the TSB number and what vehicles its covers. There was no closing date on this.
I will try and find the TSB for you....

They might tell you that covers only the Impala's. My dealer repaired mine twice under that TSB.....
An Impala is the same a the Monte but only has 2 more doors

GM will not cover it but I am going after the dealer i just bought the car from and have them deal with the Chevy dealer.
