Time to finda new dealership...
He claims they lubricated it, but the heat here dries it up very quickly.

I'll give him one more shot at it before I write the head service dood.

That's so much bs I can't believe it... the heat there has nothing to do with it... it's them being lazy or forgetting it,, it's not an easy job from what I've heard. If it can't take 100 degree heat , then how in the HECK does it last one day with the engine compartment (where it is housed) is going to be around 200 degrees. I don't care if your in death valley, or Fargo... that engine compartment is still gonna heat soak anything in there to at least 150.. no matter what it is outside.

I've told him about the marine grease that members suggest to use. He sorta agreed with me.

Just had my06 LTZin the shop for the tire pressure monitor problem. Have also noticed in the past week that the driver seat seems to be getting loose and the 6 disc CD changer is getting tempermental (ie - does not want to load CD, and when it finally playsit makes a popping noise thru the speakers). Still waiting on new steering rack to correct noise in front end. When it comes in I'll have it all checked out. As far as mileage goes - have been averaging 25-26 mpg.
What kind of noise were you getting in the front end that required a steering rack? Just wondering because I am having issues with mine as well.

Was a popping noise at very low speeds while turning. Most noticable when backing out of parking spaces or driveway - did not notice at roading speeds. Just a quick pop like something was binding and then let go. I would have your dealer check it out to make for sure.

yup, have same issue with mine... they already replaced the ISS, and that didn't fix it, so now they've ordered a new steering rack...

Dumb question, what is the ISS? Also, what is causing theproblem withthe steering racks? How wide-spread is it? While mine doesn't seem to have an issue now, I will be paying extra attention to it to make sure it does not become a problem.

Laser is exactly correct. I had to have mine lubed. The car will seem harder to turn than many power steering cars, this was my car's first symptom. Didn't bother me, I quickly got used to it. But then I started more feeling the "pop" through the wheel, then I actually heard it.

The symptoms make lights go off in ur head if you've read about it. I had mine lubed under warranty (they tried to say it was a regular service thing) yeah right, if it was regular service why is it 180$ for a half hour job?! At least that's what it would have been if I didnt get them to agrree it should be covered under warranty.
