hi a while back i got a new exhaust though my warranty. yes sweet i know, but afterwards i started to hear a ping noise. first i noticed itwhen i shut the car off, then stopped though dirve threws. i always attributed it to the new cat heating and cooling down, but i did some looking into and i may be wrong. i read its cause by unburned fuel hitting the hot pipes and burning up. ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED. i want to take it back to the dealer, but i have no more warranty.

 

im not sure if this has anything to do with anything but now that its cold it is bearly noticeable. im just hoping it was "brand new exhaust ping" and it doesnt come back in the spring cause its embarrassing.

 

I would not worry about it unless the problem continues to happen. Is it the same noise that occassionally you will get after driving the car really hard, and then turning it off? You know that tick noise coming from the hot exhaust?

If thats all it is, don't worry about it.

 

well the snow has melted and i got under the car today. its definatley the cat. my friend at work says thats normal for new stock exhausts, but i have a hard time believing that.

i know a clicking noise its normal but this wounds like a i threw a rock at it every 20 seconds, and while the car is running when stopped.

maybe the guys at the dealership played a prank on me installing a bell inside the cat.
