There actually is a leak, I believe it's gas but doesn't smell like it. It's right under the middle of the driver door. And I was gonna drain the tank, but I had started running the gas through. The carb is fine, but the accelerator pump leaked, so that was fixed. And the is an electrical issue. None of the gauges work, the a/c is wired backwards and there's no horn. But to your theory of an animal in the car, there is a ton of snake skin if the a/c vents.

I had a gm 350 that was doing that, the distributor gear sheared the roll pin, but it did not break clean, it had a sharp piece that cut a groove on the shaft. Every once in a while it would shut off. After a few cranks the gear shear pin would pop back in the hole and it would run fine. I did not troubleshoot it until it blew the muffler off the car.
