Default 06 MCLT ****ft lever probs

I have an 06 MC LT that intermittitently givesus problems. It seems as if the button does not fully engage/ release. It takes a little extra pressure to click it and be able to move the lever to select the gear or get it into park and remove the keys. Any suggestions or related experiences would help!

I've had a similar problem with getting the car out of park, but usually it happens once, and then it's good for the rest of the day for me.. I too have an 06 MC LT.. It does not happen every day, but usually at least once to twice a week it is hard to push the button in to get it out of park, and I'm parked on a flat surface.

If I were parked on a hill, then I would totally understand why then.

I've had this problem too, but like draxis, it only happens once, and is good for the rest of the day. Seems to only happen in cold weather though. I find if you use the parking brake regularly it seems to make it easier to put it in gear as well (esp on a hill).

mine is the same way, first couple of shifts during the day its 2 hands and impossible, and then after that it shifts effortlessly. was told by the tranny shop that this is a common problem with the column shift montes, imagine that another chevy screw up

ok try this it used to work on my old monte.
pull in to a parking spot set the E Brake and then put the car in to gear. this allows the tranny to be relaxed with out that typical rolling forward a bit or back to where it grabs.

Also you can talk to a good mechanic in your area and see if they can adjus tthe linkage on the tranny or the cabel that is used to get the linkage to move.

Most of the time a car will do this if you park on a hill this is due to more presure being put on the parking gear. and when you try to shift out of park it will be hard to get it out of gear becuse it has to over come the extra presure on it.
