Default Remote on Amp

Hello,

This is my first time hooking up an amp, I've got everything wired except for the remote, I'm using the stock head stero and amp in my car, I just have another amp running the sub. Everything works, but what is the point of the remote? as in what does it do? I thought it was for turning the amp on and off, but when my car is off there's no lights on the amp, when I turn the keys on, it turns on and when the keys are turned off it turns off. I want to hook it up since it should be, what should I tap it into? (my car is a 2000 SS)

Thanks

there should be a 12V remote turn on input for your amp, this just gets connected into any 12V line. Use one for the factory stereo so when you turn off the car, the amp stays on with the factory stereo. Im in the process of doing this now.

Do you know which line (color) it is off the stock amp?

The remote wire on the factory amp is white, but there are several of them. The only way I know to determine which one is the right one is a test light, and someone up front switching the key on/off.

just take a wire from remote on the amp and run it to a fuse...but if for some reason the amp turns off without remote being hooked up then there probably shouldnt be a problem...

mos tof the time with any remote all you need to do is put it on to a keyed switch or keyed 12 power.

What it is for is to let the amp know when to come on and actually work

I have a old kenwood amp that when the car comes on it lights up but is not working till the stereo is turned on to trigger the remote.
and when ya shut off the stereo it shuts off the remote feed and cuts the amp.

Belive me you should hear a huge diffrence on any system wiht the addition of a amp . so you should knwo if it is on or not.
