Default Need advice on speakers

Hey everybody,

I'm looking to upgrade my speakers. The stock ones sounded terrible. I replaced them with some Alpine G series 6x9's in the back and some Kicker DS 6.5's in the front. They sounded a little better than the stock speakers but still left me extremely disappointed. I know you get what you pay for and I should have probably waited and saved more money and bought nicer stuff. Anyhow, I found some stuff on Ebay and wondered if anybody had any dealings with Cadence car audio.

Can anyone give me any recommendations?

I've never had any Cadence products myself but know that some of their stuff is alright. But two sets of speakers for $75 is asking for trouble, especially if you've already upgraded your speakers and still don't like how it sounds.

I think the main problem is that you put in new 4 ohms speakers when your factory one's were 2 ohms so you're getting less power to them. I mean, when I first got my car I did the same thing and the SQ was better but the volume was effected. So my suggestion would be to amp your aftermarket speakers first before buying different speakers. That alone will make a big difference. Then once you amp them if you still don't like how they sound, I'd suggest a decent component set up front and some decent 3 way 6x9's. Expect to pay at least $75 just for the 6x9's, probably another $120+ for the components.

Thank you I'll give that a try. I was thinking that might have been what I needed to do. Can you recommend an amp? Or maybe what I should be looking for in an amp and maybe what I should avoid?

i have some cadence's in my rear deck, thats therre lower end. what you started this thread with is what your basicly dealing with, your getting what you payf or, every brand has different teirs, those are the entry level teir speakers. the ones i have were 100$ for the rear 6x9's and there very rich, clear speakers, and i got them because they offered very high ratings and i wanted some mid ranges in the rear that could take some power but didn't need to be coax or comp to get the highs and mids. so mid range was the way to go and they hit the button on the head, great speakers.

you're next upgrade idealy is a deck upgrade. that will give you much better SQ over all to be honest, most people are surprised with how happy they become with an after market deck.

Yeah, a deck would also be a good upgrade. Matter of fact, I'd do the deck before the amp

I forgot to mention the deck. When I bought the car it had Kenwood KDC-138 already installed. I know that is their entry level deck. Not looking to win any competitions just want my music to sound decent.

Then definitely get an amp for your mids/highs
