Front speakers suddenly produce very low sound
It's been a long time since I've posted here, which I guess is a good thing. My 02 Monte Carlo LS has treated me well for 246K miles. It's been off the road since Hurricane Ida, though, because it got a little water in the passenger side compartment and then developed the annoying shift-lock solenoid issue where the key won't go into the "off" position, so I haven't been able to drive it. I finally took it to the shop though, and whatever the shop did to diagnose the shift-lock solenoid issue fixed the issue.
So I went cruising around Saturday for the first time in a LONG time, and everything was right in the world and the stereo sounded just fine. Yesterday, however, I get in the car and turn on the radio and suddenly, the front speakers sounded like crap. Everything in the car is factory regarding the sound system. The rear speakers sound fine, but BOTH front speakers put out very low sound.
I am under the impression that the amp in the rear powers both the rear and front speakers and since both front speakers showed the same symptoms at the same time, hopefully the amp just might need replacing? I'd like additional input so I don't go out and buy a new one on eBay for nothing. Or, perhaps there is something else I might be missing? All my connections are secured and I don't see any corrosion anywhere, though, I haven't taken the amp out yet to give it a real thorough inspection.
Thanks in advance
