Default question about component speakers

I'm looking at getting component speakers for the front 2 speakers in my monte carlo. what size are those speakers? also with component ones do i need to get an amp to run these off of or does each one come with one. im confused with this part. Also while i'm at it, are the back speakers 6 x 9s?

My car is an 06. i looked up the speakers size for the fronts and it is 6 1/2. well i dont mean need as in i can go without i just didnt know if the crossovers did the same thing as an amp. What arethe crossovers were for? I haven't decided on getting the component speakers or just getting a set of nice coaxial speakers. If i get the coxial speakers how hard would it be to wire up some tweeters to go with it? sorry about the million questions i just want to make my car bump without spending unneccesarry amounts of cash on it

have you removed your front door panel yet? my 2006 LT came with factory tweeters so all i had to do was cut the wires on those ones and put in my new ones. and depending on wether you got the premiem sound package in your car or not will be the difference wether your speakers are amplified or not. and yes 6x9 in the back 6.5 in the front.

I just got my 6x9s and componet set of speakers.

The componet set is jl audio XR653-CS speakers. 70 watts continous
the 6x9s are jl audio tr690-txi. 65 watts

would a 300 watt x 4 channel amp be a good fit for these? i'm trying to stay all jl products. Or is there another amp i should get for these?

haha, What is the RMS wattage x 4 @ 4 ohm spec on that amp you are looking at? You just need to find an amp that will do ~65-80 watts x 4 @ 4 ohm.
