My new CAI
yeah ive made taht mistake before, wasnt to bad i just had to rethread the battery and use a new bolt. didnt know that they were made of lead. but anyways do you think that could have been the problem?? (not tight enough?)
Not really, as long as you had the bolt pressing the ring terminal against the battery- you should have current flow. It shouldn't make a difference if its finger tight or torqued with a wrench (well in terms of falling back out it does, but in terms of contact no).
I keep my battery on a float charger at my house, and take it out to my monte every now and then to start it up and get it running, and I never bring any tools- just hand tighten, and I've never had a problem with it starting.
But I mean you could've only touched 3 plugs that would effect the car- IAT, MAF, and battery (right? you didn't unplug anything else did you?). You said it started for a split second- what happened then? Would it turn over any more after that? The engine will run without IAT or MAF plugged in at all- so the only thing I can think of that you touched was the battery that could completely kill the engine and keep it from doing anything.

well thsi is really strange you know?? i mean it turned over real good but didnt start, it acted the same exact way as if there was a loose connection, like it wants to start but doesnt all the way. whatever i guess ill figure it out somehow.

Alright I got it all figured out!! It was the battery I guess, cause there was no problem this time. But anyway as you can see I cut off half of the air box to keep the PCM protected, and I took out that tube inside the box to run the pipe through. Now I know it looks like I kept the stock elbow but really there is a chrome pipe inside there. Let me tell you why. First the holes for the vacumme hose and the intake temp sensor (on the chrome pipe) were too big so I lined them up with the stock elbow (you know the chrome pipe inside) and the second reason is im using it as a heat shield. But yeah, I ran it through the one half of the air box and right behind the headlight. Man does the engine growl now and has this really cool whistling noise at regular engine speed.
So, what do you all think. Im very pleased with the outcome of this one.
