I would go with Mpd Inc cold air intake, It has the box and lid to cover the 9" air filter but the lid can easily come off as well, Also if you ever want to do a ram air hood then you can duct right into the air box to get the most air to the intake,

A couple us with the 3.9 got the intake from mpd inc and we are all happy with their product,

I like the mpd inc intake because it protects my pcm very well.

Here is a link to see my air intake setups

By the way the mpd inc cold air intake includes a nice K and N filter that is 9" so it may be a little bigger than the 5.3 intake kit

either way you get a k and n filter with either intake system

if you can't build yourself a really good CAI, the price is worth it.

You figure the CAI will help your car breathe more, help your gas mileage, it has a washable filter that you won't need to replace a new one. They are an amazing addition to your car. It really feels like a different vehicle after such a simple change.

It's definitely worth the money, even if you just have to wait an extra week or 2 to save up the additional cost.

i mean i know they are good, but for that price i could just buy an intake off ebay and build a heat shield. i cant really justify paying 250+, maybe im just that cheap. i really appreicate you guys that gave mecomment

I have a K&N FIPK. Haven't installed a fully enclosed heat shield yet. It's 10 degrees out, what's the need right now lol

A lot of people will tell you to stay away from the cheap ebay ones. You get what you pay for, and they don't use good quality parts, or they will use things that will get too hot.
