Default intake, and exhaust help needed

well ill start with my exhaust, i have a 2000 Monte Carlo SS! i want something that sounds good but wont cost me lot of money. i AM looking to first get mufflers then later when i have more money get a custom exhaust. ive heard that chambered mufflers aren't the way to go, ive also heard that flowmaster isnt good for our motors. i want some thing good sounding and in the $50-$80 dollar muffler. i also want to cut out my resonator. ive been told that you can install a glasspack in place of it? how does this help the sound and flow of your exhaust. i would like to know what size i need and how much it would cost.

Intake
i want to install a cold air intake or a short ram intake! but im not really sure of the differences? im doing it to gain hp, and over all performance. which is better for racing, hp gains, performance gains. im also looking to install a throttle body spacer. other than the spacer what can i do to improve more throttle response? sometimes when i drive or race and i floor it my car like stops then has huge pick up. how can i make more acceleration is what im asking i guess? any and all help is appreciated.

read through the sticky posted in this forum under the Headers, Intake & Exhaust https://montecarloforum.com/forum/he...n-3800s-10942/ it gives a lot of great information on the different mods for our cars including what each will do for your performance. It should answer most of your questions.

as ohara said read the sticky thread, but for a quick run down the throttle body spacer is useless save your money. get a cold air intake from cold air inductions, there the best i have seen so far. as far as exhaust get on youtube and search for exhaust clips on 00-05 monte carlo ss to see what sounds good to you. if you remove the glass pack i would suggest a glass pack for sure, no resi gets really raspy. now if you want to open up flow in the exhaust you need to look into getting a 2.5" downpipe from zzp. the dp is the most restricting part of the exhaust do to the "u" bend at the bottom of it. after that is changed the next most restricting part is the exhaust manifolds and then the cat back exhaust. if i remember correct the stock cat back exhaust can support like 300hp before it becomes an issue, the dp and exhaust manifolds are where the issues in flow is.

as far as gains, you may feel a little better throttle response but i dont see you feeling a gain in it being faster. it will feel faster because it will sound good and be louder but actual gains are minimal.
