Not all cars have throttle body screens- not all cars even have MAF's at all. On a car with a screen- sure it would likely catch the bulk of the crap- but do you really want to use it as an air filter? I'm sure with the tiny motor driving that fan that there are some parts that can potentially pass through the screen.

IMO, its one of those things of- sure nothing might go wrong, but why introduce something that could lead to problems if it has no gains to doing the mod?

That's what I forgot!!!! I was kicking myself in the head because I knew the answer wasn't right - hence the last sentence that it was only good to 2000rpm.

As for the link I posted, I think they would be true to their claim. You have to remember that thing is pushing out 62+ amps so it is really throwing power at the fan which means the blades are set to position to suck a ton of air. I would imagine they would be set more like a leaf blower where the blades run more perpendicular to the face of the unit as compared to one of those stupid hand held cooling fans where they run parallel to the unit and are a thinner design.
