Yep, I got it too, but because it said that it wasn't necessary to take it in, unless you noticed a lack of power, or decreased gas mileage, I didn't. Guess we'll just have to wait and see......

Default RE: Catalytic Converters Recall ???

I just got my 2002 SS about a month ago. Starting on Friday, I started losing all sorts of power. By Saturday, I had NO POWER AT ALL. It took about 4 minutes to get up to 50! I took it into the Chevy dealership in town and they checked it out. They found that the cat was completely clogged up. I had just had a cat-back (Magnaflow) put on about a week ago. The car only has about 30K on it. Chevy warranties the emissions stuff for 80K. They replaced the cat, and it never ran so good!. I can now here the difference in the sound of the cat-back, too. Didn't cost me ANYTHING! Not even under my extended warranty I purchased with the car (that has a $50 deductable). Wether you have a bad one or not, go in. Have them check it out. You may just get a new cat for free. From what I am being told by the dealership (Chevy), this is a common occurance in the W-Body cars (not just the Monte's).

I have an 06 monte carlo 3.5 and I need to know if I'm still able to get in on the recall. Just started having this problem not to long ago and I was thinking I would be replacing the transmission but if it's the catalytic converter I need to know if I'm eligible for the replacement
