Anybody who is having trans problems may be interested.

A blocked catalytic conveter caused symptoms of slipping, a bad PCS, a bad PCM, a bad TCC, and a whole host of others. I hope a lot of others get off lucky too (yeah, it was under warranty....just).

 

Yeah, a plugged cat can definitely feel like a transmission related issue. There is a special policy on some Monte Carlos, I gave the car numbers that qualify in a previous post

Had that problem in my '01. Fought it for months, until it finally clogged totally. No fault codes. Really messes with the tranny, also, when it gets really bad. GM re-embursed me for the repair. I believe GM has 140,000mi warranty, at least on that '01 SS.

car started to feel bogged down. seems reasonable to have the cat replaced.
had that done 3 years ago. cat seems really small,

currently the car does not shift into 4th gear once you hit the highway
before that the engine light came on about 2 weeks earlier, that is normally emissions= cat= no 4th gear.

l can do the cat myself. hoping this is the ansewer

put a stright piece of pipe in replace of the converter

 

thats proabaly half the price of the whole converter . if it still works l would want to kill it as it has a few bends in it between bolt ups.

l think l will just go for the cat. hope to report positive results.
