recently, my check engine light came on. not knowing what it was myself i decided to take it to a shop. he believes it could be the catalytic converter but also informs me that he believes IT WAS RECALLED some years ago.. The car is an '02 Monte SS 3800 Series II. Was this catalytic converter recalled??

 

Yes it had an extended recall on it. Unfortunately as of the end of last year the recall is up. We have an 01 in the shop in need of a converter and just talked to the dealer today and they said the recall is no longer in effect.
