I average 22-23 at 65-70 with cruise on in my 06SS. The bestI have ever got was 25 but that was a 40 mile drive at 40-45 in nasty weather.
I drive 65 miles a day mostly interstate and backroad only about 10 a day in city.
I have also noticed it makes a 2-3 MPG difference where I buy gas, if I buy it at the Mobile in my town I get 18-20 and If I buy at the MomNPop place in town I get 21-22.
I have talked to a guy who drives to Chicago for work and he gets 23-24 most of the time running 70-75.

But then I sacrifice the mileage for the feel of my right foot. I bought it for the performance and not the economy. If I wanted economy, (if you have sensative ears and eyes, cover them now) I would have bought animport [sm=alcoholic.gif]
Nothing better than the old reliable butt dyno.

For the 06-07 owners, keep in mind that the message center does not tell you how many times you have refueled liked the older Montes did. This is what the avg miles per gallons on based on. How many gallons of fuel you have used since
1. you purchased the car
or
2. reset the information center.

The avg mpg on mine states 20.2
Keep in mine my avg trip a is only 6 miles

When we made our trip to PA last week end we started off at 19.9 after a 450 mile round trip it made it up to 20.2. But when you did the math manualy we got 25.5 miles to the gallon. Still not bad since our avg speed was about 75 miles per hour.

One thing I kind of forgot about, I am starting my car every morning and letting it warm up for about 10 minutes...I get about four days between fill ups, so this is 40 minutes of idling. I don't know how much of a difference this makes, but I'm guessing without the warm up I will get at least another mpg.

I'm assuming you are talking about the instantaneous mpg readout...I believe this number is completely meaningless, other than to scare you when you floor it.

I agree with Schmed...the DIC guestimates according to fuel delivery to the engine and not directly by any mileage or speed you are driving.

Just old skewl it...

1.top the tank
2. note the mileage.
3. drive.
4. top the tank again.
5. note the mileage again.
6. do the math

The simplest method is still the most accurate for me.

If you are idling for 40 minutes or so that's 0 MPG. So that is a lot of what's killing your mileage.
