I tinted all my previous cars to 20%. But my Monte was already tinted when I bought it. It's tinted to 30%. I'd prefer the 20%, but if I ripped off the 30%, I'd lose my rear defogger lines. And having the back window at 30%, and the rest 20% would look dumb in my opinion.

If you want to darken the strip across the top of the windshield, go for it. But I would not want to darken the entire windshield. If you ever got into an accident, and the cops (or the other driver you hit) ever found out about it, you could be in serious sh*t.

If you plan to drive the Monte at night, I'd suggest maybe asking friends if you could go for a little ride at night in their tinted cars. And see how you feel about the reduced visibility at night. Do this before you tint your windows. Or at least before you tint the back window.

Tint the windows as dark as you want. Just don't do the entire windshield.

 

My friend has 15% on his car(illegal) and it was boss. but i didnt pay attention to the visibility. im getting tinted tomorrow, ill see then

well i went 30% front and 15% back and a visor on the windshield. Looks great!. I wanted 20% but 30% is just fine for me

 

Sounds like a good combination. Adding the visor tinting should help cooling the car too. From the outside, there's not too much of a difference in the look of 30% and 20%. They're both much better than clear glass. Keeps the car cooler, looks better, and adds privacy to the car.
